Trosnant was first established in 1956 as part of the Leigh Park development, but due to structural faults was demolished in 1994 and re-housed in temporary accommodation on the same site. In February 1997 the school moved into a new building designed by Hampshire’s award winning architect, Neville Churcher. The school is designed with upper and lower schools, each comprising two pairs of classrooms, a shared area and a tutorial room. Each room has a patio area which is partly covered. There is also a hall, art area, kiln, cookery and library areas and an ICT suite. The school also has an outside swimming pool and changing rooms and extensive grounds which include two 6-a-side football pitches, 2 netball size hard court areas and two conservation areas. The school is a non-denominational, mixed Junior Community School with a resourced unit for up to seven children experiencing ‘behavioural, emotional and social difficulties’. Trosnant Junior School is maintained by the Children’s Services Department of Hampshire County Council |
